Lyrics

Another child is born
Another race is won
Another dream is shattered
Another day has begun

This world is still afloat
No not in Noah's boat
We've only lost the vision
Of the stars we're meant to be

This world is still afloat
No not in Noah's boat
We've only lost the vision
Of the stars we're meant to be

This world is full of love
We still have hope
This world is full of love
We still have hope
This world is full of love
We still have hope
This world is full of love
We still have hope
This world is full of love
We still have hope
This world is full of love
We still have hope

Notes

This vid had been in my head back in november 07, I had a somehow different idea in mind then, I thought it would be something deeper, but given the approaching VVC deadlines, I just did something rather simple in the end. and I think I feel a bit disappointed by the result now because of that. But who's to say if I had had more time, I would have made something else, we never know :P

The idea for this came very early on from watching the pilot of BSG and whenever the opening credits came in, there was just something about them that totally marked me then. It wasn't the usual SciFi music, it carried so much more, so much pain and hope as well. it was clearly established then for me, how the show was not about scifi, but about this lost civilization looking for a meaning and a way to survive. It's always been what dragged me to BSG. And so this vid is suppose to mirror this idea. The lyrics tell you the rest better than me.

This vid was also the first one ever I really tried to storyboard. Usually, I use songs with more of a general mood attached to them than very lyric oriented songs. This time was different and I also wanted to see if storyboarding would in anyway help me vid faster. I'm not sure it did. But it gave me the feeling I was less messy. But I'm sure I was as messy as I was before.

I took a pic of my vidding board while I was making the vid, which you can see here, if you're curious (forgive me for some french words here and there, and some notes like words of vocab I write down to remember ;)). That was the content of the vid, as I pictured it in my head through most of the process. Things were decided after but basically, the idea's there. :-)

Headlights

Starbuck Character Study (Season 3 mainly)
Made in July 2007

This is an attempt at showing Starbuck's struggle through life and through her "destiny" path. It focus mainly on season 3 (spoiler for season 3 as a result).

Lyrics

They're telling me it won't be long
The door is shut
The suits are on
Too bright to be day
To hurt anyway
Still there's no view
No green, no blue

The headlights above
They don't know love
You smile to please
I try to care

You break my heart
you break my heart

I love you here
I love you here

Notes

I loved the "space" sound of the song and its "gliding"/floating feeling, almost like being high lol. so I really tried to use that the more I could to portray the character being haunted and lost and confused. One of the other interwined theme to me is starbuck's refusal to be happy and her reject of others. How everything seems painful for her and how she'strying to make sense of her life in the middle of all this.

I began vidding this one trying to do something different than what I did before. Like I talked about during my LJ complains, I took a different approach and I feel it has a different result, though it'd be impossible to explain exactly how with words. Changing fandom and having something like BSG as a source probably played a big part in this. It inspires you differently. The source is incredible.

Editing wise, I played a lot with internat motion to give a swaying feeling and I played a lot with intercutting too. It felt like the road to take to enhance the feeling of life going faster than the character can process. I also add fun creating this circle pattern in the intro, cause the music was so interesting there.

I had a lot of problem with the ending. Mainly because I didn't want it to be about a shipping stupid thing just because of the lyrics. I didn't planned on having Lee in the vid at all at first but he kinda swooped in there anyway. I still hope that ending works. *cross fingers*
